American Bank name resurrected

Northwestern Financial Review, Sep 15-Sep 30, 2002

The merged Dakota Bank and Midway National Bank will be known as American Bank.

Dakota Bancshares purchased Midway National Bank on Feb. 22. It owns Dakota Bank in Mendota Heights, Minn. Since the purchase, the two banks have operated under their pre-- existing names. The charters of the two banks will be merged on Sept. 16 and the new name will be implemented for what will the largest state chartered bank in Minnesota.

Dakota Bancshares reached an agreement with U.S. Bank to use the American Bank name. U.S. Bank, formerly Firstar, purchased the old Amencan Bank in St. Paul some years ago and was not using the name.
