April 12: PNB Bancshares, Inc., Pekin, III., filed to become a bank holding company by acquiring Pekin National Bank.

Jeffrey L. Gerhart, Newman Grove, Neb., filed to acquire control of First Newman Grove Bankshares Corp., Newman Grove, parent of The First National Bank of Newman Grove.

April 5: Midwest Banc Holdings, Inc., Melrose Park, III., filed to acquire CoVest Bancshares, Inc., Des Plaines, III., and thereby indirectly acquire CoVest Banc, N.A. Des Plaines.

Hume Bancshares Acquisition Corp., Saint Louis, Mo., filed to become a bank holding company through the acquisition of Hume Bancshares, Inc., Hume, Mo., parent of Hume Bank, Hume.

Associated Bank, Green Bay, Wis. $127 million or 77 cents per diluted share compared to $117 million or 70 cents per diluted share in first quarter 2002.

Bank One, Chicago $818 million or 71 cents per diluted share compared to $787 million or 67 cents per diluted share in first quarter 2002.

Comerica, Detroit $176 million, or $1 per diluted share compared with $214 million, or $1.20 per diluted share in first quarter 2002.

Commerce Bancshares, Inc., St. Louis $47.2 million or 70 cents per share compared to $45.5 million or 65 cents per share in first quarter 2002.

Marshall & Ilsley, Milwaukee $129.5 million or 57 cents per diluted share compared to $115.6 million or 53 cents per diluted share in first quarter 2002.

Northern Trust Corp, Chicago $94.7 million or 42 cents per share compared to $127.6 million or 56 cents per share in first quarter 2002.

TCF Financial, Minneapolis $60.13 million or 83 cents per diluted share compared to $56.31 million or 75 cents per diluted share in first quarter 2002.

U.S. Bank, Minneapolis $911.2 million or 47 cents per share compared to $756.0 million or 39 cents a share in first quarter 2002.

Amcore Financial, Rockford, III. $10.7 million or 43 cents per diluted share compared to $9.9 million or 40 cents per diluted share in first quarter 2002.

Corus Bancshares Inc., Chicago $12.5 million or 88 cents per diluted share compared to $10.5 million or 73 cents per diluted share, in first quarter 2002.

First Indiana Corp., Indianapolis $4.7 million or 30 cents per diluted share compared to $6.4 million or 41 cents per diluted share in first quarter 2002.
