Treasury unveils multi-colored greenback

Northwestern Financial Review, Jun 1-Jun 14, 2003

The government announced the most significant changes to U.S. currency in a century when it unveiled the redesigned $20 bill - complete with new colors and symbols. It's the first time since the early 1900s that American bills will not be printed with some combination of only green and black ink. The new $20 bill, scheduled to be circulated this fall, features blue and green eagles, yellow "20"s dotting one side, and faint green and peach hues in the background.

The Treasury Department said the multicolored twenty-dollar bills will be followed by updated $50 and $100 designs in the next several years, adding that complexity will make the bills more difficult to counterfeit.
