Online payments increase
Northwestern Financial Review, Jul 1-Jul 14, 2003
Online bill payment increased sharply during the first three months of 2003, according to NACHA - the electronic payments association. During the first quarter of 2003, NACHA estimates that more than $48 billion m online bill payments were made in which the Automated Clearing House Network was the payment system used.
That figure is half of the $96 billion in online payments made in all of 2002. If ACH usage continues to grow at the current rate, 2003 transactions will approach $200 billion.
