Northwestern Financial Review, Jul 1-Jul 14, 2003
Great Western Bancorporation, Inc., is the new name for Omaha, Neb.-based Spectrum Bancorporation, Inc. The name change for the $2.1 billion bank holding company comes in conjunction with name changes and mergers at Great Western's subsidiary banks.
On May 30, the merger of F&M Bank, Watertown, S.D., and Rushmore Bank & Trust, Rapid City, S.D., was completed. The bank now operates as Great Western Bank.
Earlier this year, Citizens Bank, Mount Ayr, Iowa and Citizens Bank of Princeton, Mo., merged into Citizens Bank, Clive, Iowa. The merged bank changed its name to Great Western Bank on March 31.
"We want to emphasize that though our name has changed, our ownership and commitment to community banks remain the same," said Deryl F. Hamann, chairman.
Great Western Bancorporation, Inc., operates 63 community banks in Nebraska, Iowa, South Dakota, Missouri and Kansas.
