Iowa bank gains two branches

Northwestern Financial Review, Oct 1-Oct 14, 2003

The Iowa State Bank of Algona is adding two banking offices in Corwith and Wesley after the purchase of the former Corwith State Bank. The purchase was made by Mid-Iowa Bancshares Co. of Algona, the holding company for the Iowa State Bank.

"We will continue to provide a high level of service in Corwith and Wesley while adding new and convenient features for our customers," said Tom Larson, president of Iowa State Bank. Internet banking, a seniors club and kids club were formerly not offered by Corwith State Bank but are offered by Iowa State Bank.

The staffs at both acquired offices are remaining the same and will expand with the addition of Scott Whyte, senior vice president. Whyte joins the bank with more than 30 years of community banking experience in north central Iowa. He will be working in the Corwith and Wesley area.

Iowa State Bank was founded in 1928. Following the merger, MidIowa Bancshares Co., a $137 million holding company, will have offices in Algona, Corwith, Ruthven and Wesley.
