CORPORATE GOVERNANCE FOR community banks

Northwestern Financial Review, Mar 15-Mar 31, 2004

On February 22, 2004, Fredrikson & Byron's Bank & Finance Group hosted a seminar on "Bank Governance: Sarbanes and Beyond." Karen Grandstrand gave an overview of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 (SOX) and how SOX has affected the regulation and supervision of nonpublic community banks. John Kost continued the discussion by focusing on best practices of bank corporate governance. Bob Whitlock completed the session by sharing his personal experiences as a director of several bank and non-bank companies. The following articles summarize Karen's and John's portions of the seminar.

If you have questions on corporate governance, feel free to contact Karen, John or Bob.
