Chicago Home Loan Bank sets board for 2004

The Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago announced the following changes to its 2004 Board of Directors:

Allen Koranda has been elected to a two-year term as chairman. Koranda is chairman and CEO of Mid America Bank, fsb, Clarendon Hills, Ill. He also serves on the board of America's Community Bankers and is past chairman of the Illinois League of Financial Institutions.

Milwaukee attorney, Richard Graber, was re-elected by the board to a two-year term as vice chairman.

Newly elected members are Roger Lehmann and James McKenna. Lehmann, president, CEO and chairman of The Harvard State Bank, Harvard, Ill., was voted in by FHLB member institutions in Illinois. He currently serves on the board of the Community Bankers Association of Illinois.

McKenna, president and CEO of North Shore Bank, Brookfield, Wis., was elected by FHLB member institutions located in Wisconsin. McKenna formerly served on the Federal Reserve Board's Thrift Institutions Advisory Council and was a director of America's Community Bankers.

Wisconsin member institutions also re-elected to a three-year board term, James Caldwell, president and CEO of the First Citizens State Bank of Whitewater, Wis.

Alex LaBelle and Terry Grosenheider have been appointed and reappointed to three-year board terms by the Federal Housing Finance Board. LaBelle is a broker-associate with Smothers Realty Group, LaGrange, 111. and Grosenheider is a private banking relationship manager for U.S. Bank, N.A., Madison, Wis.

The Chicago FHLB board is comprised of 16 members. The remaining members of the 2004 board are: Scott Heitmann, ABN AMRO North America, Inc.; P. David Kuhl, Busey Bank, Urbana, 111.; Kathleen Marinangel, McHenry Savings Bank, McHenry, 111; Richard McCord, Illinois National Bank, Springfield, 111.; Jack Rusch, First Federal Capital Bank, LaCrosse, Wis.; H. Lee Swanson, State Bank of Cross Plains, Wis.; attorneys Sarah Vega and Gerardo Gonzalez; and William Ross, Ross Carbide & Supply Co.

* Randy G. Smith has been appointed executive vice president and commercial banking division manager for First Federal Capital Bank, La Crosse, Wis. Smith brings more than 24 years of commercial banking leadership to the position. Smith, prior to joining First Federal, worked for Wells Fargo & Company for 18 years in various roles including group credit officer for all Minnesota regions. Smith also served Wells Fargo and its predecessor, Norwest Bank, N.A., as senior regional credit officer and bank president in Winona, Minn. Smith has a master's degree from Arizona State University and an undergraduate degree from the University of Montana, Missoula.

* Maria Reed was promoted to vice president and cashier for Union State Bank, Winterset, Iowa. Reed previously was assistant vice president and cashier with the bank. Reed has worked for Union State Bank for 17 years in numerous capacities.

* Lynn M. Oison recently joined the staff of Great Northern Bank, St. Michael, Minn., as a commercial banking officer. Olson's responsibilities include originating commercial loans and promoting business development. Olson most recently served as a senior credit officer with a community bank located in Two Harbors, Minn. Olson graduated from the University of Minnesota-Duluth.

* V. Philip Reim has been promoted to executive vice president of Alliance Bank, St. Paul, Minn., and its holding company. Reim was also elected to the bank's board of directors. Reim previously was a senior vice president at Alliance Financial Services, Inc., and at Alliance Bank.
