Bank calendar showcases art

Northwestern Financial Review, May 1-May 14, 2004

The second annual Elkhart Community Bank calendar contains students' artwork depicting local landmarks. The bank in Elkhart, Ind., produces the calendar, which features the work of 13 students from Indiana public schools. More than 180 entries were considered for the calendar. Grades one through 12 were eligible. Winners receive a $50 savings bond, in addition to having their work published in a calendar.

The free calendar is one example of how the $50 million institution, founded in 1999, reaches out to its community, said President Steve Brown.

"We were looking for something unique to do when we started the calendar," said Brown, who gathered the support of the superintendent of schools before proceeding.
