House gives SBA budget a boost
Northwestern Financial Review, Aug 1-Aug 14, 2004
The House of Representatives passed an amendment to the Commerce, Justice and State Department's appropriations bill to provide $79 million for the Small Business Administration's 7(a) loan guarantee program in fiscal year 2005. The 2005 budget and the SBA had proposed zero-funding for the 7(a) loan program.
The SBA's 7(a) program provides nearly one-third of all long-term funding for small businesses. The House-approved SBA budget must still pass the Senate.
