Neb. Bankers prepare for summit

Northwestern Financial Review, Jun 1-Jun 14, 2005

The Nebraska Bankers Association will host a "regulatory summit" in October. NBA President George Beattie explained that since the 1980s, the association has surveyed members about their experiences with examiners. "We bring regulators in and have small conversations. We decided to take that a step further this year and have a day-long summit," Beattie said.

The event will feature former U.S. Department of Treasury official Wayne Abernathy, who joined the American Bankers Association Feb. 1 as executive director for financial institutions policy and regulatory affairs. In addition to regional officials from the federal regulatory agencies, the summit will include an address from William Fox, the head of the Treasury Department's Financial Crimes Enforcement Center.
