UMB Bank seeks ugly room for contest
Northwestern Financial Review, Aug 1-Aug 14, 2006
A new online contest at www.myuglyroom.com is searching for the ugliest rooms - and one lucky winner will receive $10,000. The contest runs through August 31, at which time the web site sponsor - UMB Bank - will award the grand prize: a $10,000 Visa gift card.
"I like to think of this contest as UMB's version of HGTV; it seems like everyone has a place in their home they'd like to improve," said Mariner Kemper, chairman and CEO, UMB Financial Corporation, Kansas City, Mo. "We're having some fun with an innovative marketing idea, getting people involved in the contest to submit their ugly rooms and also voting for the winner."
To enter the contest, interested participants should log on to www. myuglyroom.com and submit an entry form. The winning entry will be determined by UMB Bank in a random drawing of the top 10 entries, as determined by popular vote. Twelve weekly winning entries will be determined by popular vote of web site visitors from June 11 through August 27, and each will receive a $100 Visa gift card. Residents of Arizona, Colorado, Illinois, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska and Oklahoma are eligible.
