Erratum

Human Organization, Winter 2000

We would like to correct the wording in two sentences of our article, "The 'Exotic' and the 'Domestic': Regions and Representation in Cultural Anthropology," published in the last issue of Human Organization (59(3):289-299). In the fourth paragraph of the conclusion to the article on page 297, the relevant sections of the two sentences currently read: "...while academic prestige may accrue to exotic fieldwork, the primary job market for cultural anthropologists is outside of academia and inside North America. Since the mid-1980s, this trend has been accelerating to the point where 72 percent of new Ph.D.s in 1995 were finding employment in applied anthropology or nonacademic careers."

Those sentences should read:

"...while academic prestige may accrue to exotic fieldwork, a primary job market for cultural anthropologists is outside of academia and inside North America. Since the mid-1980s, this trend has fluctuated. In 1995, 28 percent of all new Ph.D.s in anthropology were finding employment in applied anthropology or nonacademic careers."

We apologize for this error.
