Editor's Foreword: The Puertoricanization of North American Fisheries Research

Human Organization, Fall 2006 by Griffith, David

In Puerto Rico, fishers routinely tell us that they "defend themselves with fresh fish"-that bringing a quality product to consumers provides them with a measure, however small, of protection against frozen, imported, cheaper seafood. It underwrites their stability. Fisheries researchers around the world could benefit from this focus on quality, and I am happy to have been a small part of assembling an issue that, I believe, lives up to this spirit.
