Leaning In

Anglican Theological Review,  Spring 1999  by Davis, Brad

Like a wind-borne bubble

chased with glee, or a bearing

forged in zero gravity, unstable time

abuts the grand enclosure

of eternity.

And as is every leaf

and pen and hand that draws them,

so is every moment bright with selfless

traces of the Triune who,

by the bent

of the sovereign Word's

own word, indwells, and lo, the whole

suspends! O Lord of the elements

and elemental spirits

of the world,

give us eyes to see,

ears to hear; hands to welcome, bless,

and make of labor prayer; hearts to love

all-answering love without

a trace of fear.
