ARF Cub

Model Airplane News, Jun 2000 by Chianelli, Chris

New products and people behind the scenes; my Sources have been put on alert to get the scoop! In this column, you'll find new things that will at times cause consternation, and telepathic insults will probably be launched in my general direction! But who cares? It's you, the reader, who matters most! I spy for those who fly!

HANGAR 9 CLOTH-COVERED ARF Cub

Ever since Hangar 9's success with its IMAA-legal PT 19, everyone has been wondering what would come next. Well, here it is: a fabric-covered (not film), 1/4-scale ARF Cub. I can't tell you that much about it right now, other than it's an all-wood model that's intended for 1.20 to 1.80 4-stroke or G23 ignition-size engines. Specs: wingspan-100 inches; area-1,350 square inches; length-65 1/2 inches; flying weight-13 to 16 pounds.

Also new from Horizon is the J-line Quattro, which kicks off the new J-line series of radios manufactured by JR. The engineering and look are pure JR, but the big news is the price: the Quattro sells for $150. For that price, you get servo-reversing, four servos, rechargeable Ni-Cd batteries and proven JR electronics that are fully compatible with all JR radios. I'll keep you posted on other new J-line releases.
