Such oversight is understandable given the magnitude of the project and the complexity of the sometimes turbulent history of the People's Republic. It certainly should not obscure the obvious merits of the book. For every student of modern China, especially a scholar of the People's Republic, the dictionary is a dependable guidebook. However, if the author should ever think about a revised edition of this dictionary, he may want to take the above suggestions into consideration.
