Silver state nitro challenge results
Radio Control Car Action, Jul 1999 by Gonzalez, George M
Team Orion/Thunder Tiger factory driver Richard Saxton took the new Thunder Tiger EB-4 lMs-scale buggy (we scooped it last issue-remember?) to the winners' circle on its first outing; he lapped the field and put in 124 laps in 60 minutes. Quite the auspicious beginning for Thunder Tiger! Top qualifier Saxton didn't have it so easy for the first 30 minutes of the race, however; Associated's Mark Pavidis, driving a Mugen MBX-4, and Jason Ashton, driving a Kyosho MP6 International, swapped positions many times with Saxton during the first half of the race but finished with matching DNFs after dropping out due to technical problems-that's gas racin'.
Plenty of ho-scale action went down as well, as Team Associated factory driver Billy Easton took the TQ and lapped the field in the 1Ao-scale Truck class, while Jim Silvay picked up the win in 1/8-scale Truck after defeating top qualifier Edward Wong in the Main. Look for complete coverage of the '99 Silver State Nitro Challenge in an upcoming issue of R/C Car Action.
