Volvo

Dropping idle when alc kicks on. Some 1991-94 Volvo 240 models may have poor idle control when the a/c compressor lacks on. As a result, idle speed will drop noticeably. In addition to cleaning up the throttle bore and anything obvious like that, Volvo says the problem can be solved by installing a capacitor kit (Part No. 912892-5) at the MFI engine management computer-but only if the car uses a black box with one of the following part numbers: 6842882-0, 5003860-3 or 9146261-4.

The procedure is simple. Pull apart the computer connector and hook up the black/green capacitor lead to terminal No. 14. Using the ScotchLock connector supplied in the kit, attach the red/green capacitor lead to the wire coming out of terminal 15. Wrap everything up with electrical tape, put it all back together and see if that does the trick.

Saab

Driveline vibes. The inner CV joints may need to be replaced on a 1993-94 Saab 900 equipped with a Borg Warner automatic transaxle if severe vibration ensues after shifting into Drive. The symptom will not occur in Reverse gear.
