Consumer car care

Motor,  Dec 2001  by Nash, Tom

MSN CarPoint, an online automotive source, announced the key findings of its Sept. 2001 Fast Facts survey on car maintenance habits. Results indicate that 75% of consumers surveyed follow suggested service and maintenance schedules. In addition, almost half the respondents get their cars serviced the day after their Check Engine light comes on, while 39% wait up to a week to do so.

The caution here is to remember that CarPoint is frequented by owners who are interested in caring for and learning more about their cars and trucks. They obviously are a little more "tuned in" to their vehicles than the average consumer.
