Mercury drops the top

Motor,  Apr 2002  by Nash, Tom

At the recent Chicago Auto Show, Mercury showed the 2003 Marauder Convertible concept. After a year of showing the sedan version at various auto shows, Mere decided to see what the public thinks of the rag-top model. The Marauder sedan is scheduled for production this summer, along with the standard Grand Marquis on which it's based.

Both vehicles are powered by a 4.6-liter DOHC V8, but the convertible adds a supercharger with intercooler to cook out 335 horses and 355 ft-lb of torque. No firm commitment has been given to producing the convertible, but Mercury says that media and public response has been positive.
