Dodge flexes its muscle in LA

Motor,  Feb 2003

For the first time in over 30 years, Dodge will produce a Hemi-powered rear-wheeldrive performance car. The allnew Magnum Sports Tourer crossover made its debut at the 2003 Greater Los Angeles Auto Show last month.

Reminiscent of the Hemi muscle machines of the late '60s and early '70s, the show SRT-8 concept vehicle sports a beefed-up 5.7L Hemi that pumps out an estimated 430 horses. A whopping 480 ft-lb of torque is carried to the 20-inch wheels through an electronically controlled five-speed transmission with AutoStick, DaimlerChrysler's selectable manual shifting mode.

The production version of the Magnum is scheduled to reach showrooms in early 2004, packing "only" a 300hp version of the Hemi.
