Motor, Mar 2004 by Nash, Tom
Chrysler's cutesy PT Cruiser will offer buyers a convertible version for 2005. The popular retro-rod will come with three engine options, all based on the 2.4L DOHC 16-valve 1-4. The base 150-hp engine is also available with a turbo that produces 180 hp, or an optional High Output turbo edition that cranks out 220 horses.
Transmissions include a New Venture T350 five-speed manual (a beefy Getrag G288 five-speed is mated to the High Output turbo) and a four-speed transaxle with "AutoStick" for manual shifting.
