Loyd Keith Friedlander Partners offers insurance to cover a technician's tools. Most shops' insurance policies do not cover the replacement cost of an employee's private property in the event of theft, fire or other disasters. Coverage can be provided on an automatic basis for either an individual or for an entire facility. While $10,000 coverage is provided automatically, additional coverage can be arranged for expensive tools and test equipment. The program, underwritten by Hartford Fire Insurance Company, is currently available in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Florida, Massachusetts and Pennsylvania, with more states being added. Additional information, applications and online quoting can be found at ioww.lkfpartners.com. Follow the links to the Master Mechanics Tool Floater Program.

The Mobile Air Conditioning Society (MACS) Worldwide has created a poster that promotes professional mobile a/c service and repair as a responsible practice for preserving the stratospheric ozone layer and climate. The 17x22-in. poster, produced with the cooperation of the EPA, features penguins adrift at sea on a shrinking ice floe, and advises motorists, "Don't just go with the floe...Help protect the stratospheric ozone layer and climate. Have your vehicle's air conditioning serviced by qualified technicians who will replace broken parts and repair leaks using the proper tools and equipment." For a copy of the poster, e-mail info@macsw.org, or call 215-631-7020.
