MOTOR/ASE Master Automobile Tech of the Year Named

Motor,  Jan 2006  by Nash, Tom

Aaron Stone of Wallingford, Connecticut, was named the MoTOR/ASE Master Automobile Technician of the Year for 2005. Stone was chosen because he had the highest combined score on all eight automotive tests plus L-1 during the last two administrations of the test.

Stone has been employed by Nelsons Automotive Service Center, also in Wallingford, for the past three years. Prior to Nelsons, he worked at Connecticut's Own Volvo/Mazda (owned by Paul Newman), a Mazda dealership and another independent shop. Stone has worked as a technician for 11 years, after graduating second in his class from Ohio Auto Diesel Technical College.

Stone says that the best thing about being an ASE-certified technician is "the challenge of diagnosing and repairing hard-to-find problems. It's a good feeling to be able to fix problems that other shops have been unable to find. It's also good to be able to tell your customers that the shop employs an ASE-certified Master Tech. ASE is a name people know, and trust."

After-work interests include music and drag racing. Stone is the owner of a recording studio/live sound business, plays drums professionally with his band Madbuzz and is building a '76 Chevy Monza dragster.
