Motor,  Feb 2006  by Nash, Tom

General Motors has trademarked Active Fuel Management as the name for its fuel-saving cylinder deactivation system. The technology was introduced as Displacement on Demand in the 2005 model year Vortec 5.3L V8 Chevy TrailBlazer EXT and GMC Envoy XL and Envoy XUV. For the 2006 model year, the system is on the following vehicles: Buick Rainier; Chevy TrailBlazer, TrailBlazer EXT, Impala SS and Monte Carlo SS; GMC Envoy and Envoy XL; Pontiac Grand Prix GXP; and Saab 9-7X.

The Active Fuel Management label will be applied to all 2007 models equipped with the system, starting with the Chevy Tahoe and GMC Yukon.
