The National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) has released a new Parts Specialist self-assessment quiz as part of its popular TechQuiz series. This new quiz measures basic knowledge related to working in a retail parts environment. It consists of 50 multiplechoice questions in three content areas-Customer Relations and Sales Skills, Product Knowledge and Business Problem Solving. Parts Specialist is the fifth in the TechQuiz series, following Gasoline Engines, Drivetrains, Undercar and Electrical/ Electronics & HVAC. The quizzes are available through the ASE Campus online at www.asecampus.com. Each quiz costs $12.50. ASE also recently released its new section 609 Wizard to help service technicians determine their EPA-approved credentialing requirements for air conditioning service. It's designed to eliminate some of the confusion when working on a/c systems used in different types of vehicles. The section 609 Wizard also can be accessed from the ASE Campus website.

The Automotive Management Institute (AMI) is accepting applications for six scholarships to be awarded this year. Three scholarships help pay expenses for recipients to attend the 2007 International Autobody Congress & Exposition (NACE) in Las Vegas Oct. 31-Nov. 3; the other three help defray the cost to attend the Congress of Automotive Repair and Service (CARS) in Las Vegas Nov. 1-3.
