Curriculum Center for FCS Teachers, The

Look no further. Here is a great source for family and consumer sciences materials. The Curriculum Center for Family and Consumer Sciences at Texas Tech University provides secondary FCS teachers with products in the specific areas they teach.

The Curriculum Center has developed materials for 17 semester courses in all FCS content areas, as well as career-specific courses in seven occupational areas and several other innovative courses. Available resources include student reference books, student activity books, curriculum guides with teaching aids, PowerPoint presentations and videotapes.

The Curriculum Center's products were awarded two Awards of Excellence for 2003 by the Association of Instructional Materials, a division of The Association for Career and Technical Education.

"Teacher educators and classroom instructors a ike can be confident in the quality of the materials developed through the Curriculum Center," says Sonja Koukel, a doctoral student at Texas Tech. "Through the use of current research methods and collaboration with veteran FCS teachers, the Curriculum Center staff provides requested materials. Content is relevant and timely, reflecting societal, cultural, and technological changes."
