Network Centric Warfare primer

Wings of Gold, Winter 2000 by Carroll, Thomas

* NCW is not magic and is not a fairy tale. It won't replace things like leadership, training, quality maintenance, initiative or tactics. It won't make up for a failing strategy.

* NCW will have to compete within a budget where even the basics don't always make the cut.

* NCW will not happen overnight. It will take time to figure how and where to implement it.

* NCW requires focused attention for full development and a cadre of technologoy savvy warfighters to push it forward from the fleet, the staffs and the war colleges. It will require experimentation. Yet, by being proactive, Naval Aviation can ensure it plays a key role in defining, developing and implementing this vital warfighting concept
