Cybertalk: Abstinence

Each issue, CyberTalk prints what kids are talkng about on the Internet (kids use sames to respond).

From: ThunderBolt-Who has never had sex, and for what reason? Me, I've decided to say no because of moral reasons.

From: Gina98--I'm very proud of you, but you don't know what you're missing! From: Jumper16-Well, I won't have sex for three major reasons: One, I believe in God and that having sex before marriage is a sin. Two, I'm afraid of all the diseases going around. The last reason is that I'm afraid of getting pregnant.

From: Topiary411-While I agree abstinence is best to prevent diseases and pregnancies, I know I probably won't wait. It's just so common among teens today, and with all the pressure. . .

From:HipChick- I'm not a virgin, and it's upsetting to really think about the fact that I can't go back. That guy I thought loved me is out s other chicks.

From: SweetPie919- I know there's a lot of pressure about having sex as a teen and what you're missing, but think of what you'll be missing as an adult if you do give in. When you get married, your wedding night will mean nothing. I want to be able to honestly tell my husband that I waited just for him and that I'm completely his, not partially because of some fling I had when I was a teen. I'm proud to be a virgin.

From: HollyFriend-No, I'm not a virgin. Does that mean I'm not as moral as you? I believe that morals are what we need to survive life, and I am full of them. The only reason I had sex was because I was pressured into it by a jock. He told me that he had a reputation and I wasn't going to ruin it by not putting out. Not only was it uncomfortable, but I dislocated my hip bone. (Try explaining that to your dad!)

From: NaughtyGirl69- I've had sex and I'm proud of it. I was madly in love with the guy, and he loved me in return. I did it when I was in eighth grade, and now I'm in ninth. I did it with my guy because he was dying. He was always depressed and always threatened to kill himself. He told me that having sex would cheer him up because he was a virgin. A month after we did it, he shot himself in the chest and died instantly.

From: Baker36-I don't think ANY teenager should have sex for ANY reason. In love? I don't think teenagers really know what LOVE is yet. They just think they do.

From:Skunkboy-I think that abstinence is a great thing and all, but for any teenage guy it's not a possible thing. If almost ANY teenage guy has the chance to score, they'll be racing to see how fast they can get their pants off rather than saying, "This is not a good thing to do."

From: Jeepers-I'm a 19-yearold guy, and I've held off Not just because I haven't had a chance either, because I have. It really is the best way. It makes it more special when you find that someone that you want to live the rest of your life with.
