Bible bounty
Group, May/Jun 1999
Last December the youth groups at East White Oak Bible Church in Carlock, Illinois, began fund-raising efforts to send Bibles in local dialects to people in India who had never read a Bible.
Bibles for the World donated the Bibles, but kids needed to raise $1.56 postage for each one. The young people used skits, posters, bulletin announcements, and word-- of-mouth to publicize their project, and also organized an aluminum can drive.
Just six weeks later, kids gathered at a youth group meeting to pray over boxes of Bibles and to sing worship songs with the theme of God's Word. Then they wrapped, stamped, and mailed almost 1,700 Bibles to India.
