HP hits milestone

Office World News, Sep 1998

Hewlett-Packard Co. announced in mid-July that it had shipped its 30 millionth HP LaserJet printer. Introduced in 1984, the HP LaserJet printer revolutionized the desktop printing market. Sales for the printer hit the 1 million mark in 1988 and by 1994, HP had sold 10 million laser printers. "HP credits its success in the hardcopy market to solid relationships with channel partners and to overwhelming customer satisfaction," said Carolyn Ticknor, HP vice president and general manager of the LaserJet Solutions Group.

"HP recognizes that its customers are seeking solutions that maximize efficiency, lower total cost of ownership and give them a competitive edge, and we expect color printing to play a major role in the company's next printer milestone."
