OPWA 1998 scholarship winners chosen

Recipients of the 1998 OPWA scholarships have proven that they can manage school, family and extracurricular activities and still come out ahead. Thanks to charitable donations from OPWA members, over $45,000 in scholarship money was awarded to qualified students through the OPWA Educational Foundation.
The grand scholarship of $7,500-in honor of Toshiyuki Horie, Pentel of America, Ltd.went to Steven Marlowe, of Winchester, TN. This Franklin County High School graduate was valedictorian of his class, with a grade point average of 4.0. Marlowe will attend the University of the South in Sewanee, TN. The OPWA Educational Foundation chose Amanda Higginbotham, Cynthia Illy, Amy Freeman and Dalat Bui for $4,000 scholarships.The Board of Trustees of the Foundation also awarded four scholarships of $3,000 each, and another five students with $2,000 scholarships.
