The PageWriter 2000X two-way wireless communications center is a customizable, personal messaging device that lets users communicate wirelessly just about anywhere. Its large screen and graphical user interface make it simple to use. Powerful features such as multiple in-boxes with message filtering and customizable alerts help manage incoming messages non-intrusively.
Small enough to be worn on your belt, the 2000x is slightly bigger than a deck of cards. It houses a 49-key lighted QWERTY keyboard, a flip lid that allows message viewing on the belt, a 16-line x 30 character graphical display with backlighting, and weighs in just under 6.7 ounces, including the battery.
Designed for mobile professionals and small business owners who spend a significant amount of time away from their telephones, yet need to remain in touch, the 2000x makes it possible to receive and send information without getting tied up in lengthy conversations. Users can control how, when, and where they receive information. They can even control how much information is received. The PageWriter 2000X provides the capability to easily initiate, receive, and/or reply to messages and pages. Messages can be sent to other two-way pagers, one-way alphanumeric or numeric pagers, fax machines, and even computers via Internet e-mail addresses.
The PageWriter 2000X can be customized to meet information and communication styles with alerts, filters for automatic message handling, and message folders. In-boxes can be set up to automatically delete read messages after a specified number of days, or when a specified number of messages is reached.
The PageWriter 2000X uses the FLEX Operating System, part of Motorola's FLEX Platform Software. The software is an open, wireless messaging software platform which includes three complementary products: the FLEX Operating System runs on a messaging device; the FLEX Messaging Server provides advanced personal messaging; and the FLEX PC Partner connects a FLEX OS device with a personal computer. All three products are platforms that work together to provide an overall environment for third-party applications. In addition, Motorola's ReFLEX Protocol, a member of the family of FLEX protocols, enables two-way paging with confirmed message delivery.
Designed specifically to focus on wireless messaging for the mobile individual, the 200OX includes TrueSync Plus connectivity software which allows information to be synchronized and exchanged between the 2000X and a PC. Popular PIM's like Microsoft Outlook, ACT!, Microsoft Schedule , Lotus Organizer, SideKick, and Lotus Notes are all compatible. It even has support for Yahoo! Calendar, Yahoo! Address Book, and General Magic's Portico Virtual Assistant.
Applications: The PageWriter 2000X includes powerful built-in applications for message management (reading/ writing/organizing messages) and address book management. Also included with the product is the powerful "Productivity Suite" which includes Scheduler, Alert 2000, Note Pad, and To Do Manager. The resident address book makes it easy to send messages and Motorola's commitment to the PageWriter with software upgrades and new applications keep the 2000X current and will allow it to grow to meet changing needs.
Equipped with an infrared (IR) port, the 2000X charger acts as a docking station when transferring data to and from a computer, e.g. uploading address book data to PC as a back up or downloading new applications onto your pager.
The QWERTY keyboard makes it easy to send custom messages to other one- and two-way pagers, fax machines and Internet e-mail addresses. Users can reply to messages using pre-programmed or custom replies. An optional signature capability is available to automatically add your name to messages you send.
Add-ons: Add-on applications are available from both Motorola and Independent Software Vendors to enhance the capabilities of the PageWriter 200OX. E-mail VClient allows remote control over e-mail messages from Lotus Notes Mail, Microsoft Exchange, and Netscape Mail. Users can send and receive e-mail messages just as they do from their PCs. Unique to this software, users can decide which messages and how much of each message they want to receive.
The Productivity Software Suite includes Scheduler 2000, a calendar and scheduling application; To Do Manager, a daily activity tracking application; NotePad for recording ideas; and Alert 2000, a tool to add and manage musical alerts for different events and messages.
Relax with the Entertainment Pack which includes Ship2Ship, an overthe-air interactive naval warfare game; Mines 2000, a multilevel strategy game; and Draw 21, the all-time favorite card game.
FLEX PC Partner Connectivity Software communicates and works in conjunction with desktop and portable PCs to enables users to add new applications, update the pre-loaded FLEX Operating System, or backup and restore data. It also enables the transfer of messages and data files to PCs where they can be viewed, printed, or stored.
