MERGER GOING FORWARD
BROOMFIELD, CO-Corporate Express has announced that the Premerger Notification Office of the Federal Trade Commission granted early termination of the waiting period under the HSR Act of 1976 for the proposed merger between Corporate Express and Buhrmann NV. Additionally, on September 10, 1999, the European Commission stated that it has no objections to the proposed acquisition. "We are in the process of finalizing our proxy materials and will fix the shareholders meeting date shortly," said Bob King, president and CEO of Corporate Express. "We expect the merger to close in late October following approval by Corporate Express' shareholders."
