Imagine technology group expands holdings
Office World News, May 2001
CHICAGO, IL-Imagine Technology Group, an office equipment dealer acquisition and holding company, announced the purchase of Consolidated Office Products (COPS), a Kyocera Mita copier and fax dealer located in El Paso, TX.
According to Chuck Doolen, president of Consolidated Office Products, Imagine Technology Group will merge his four-year-old business with another Imagine Technology Group-owned office equipment dealer in El Paso, El Paso Triad. With the merger, the newly formed company will be one of the largest office equipment dealers in the El Paso area.
"When I was approached by Imagine Technology Group it was a big surprise to me at first," said Doolen. "We didn't fit the dealer profile of what Imagine Technology looks for when purchasing a company."
After discussing details with executives at Imagine, it became clear why Imagine was interested in purchasing COPS. "Imagine saw an opportunity to create a larger company with a management team that has worked successfully together in the past. The plan was to have even a stronger presence in the El Paso area and to reunite a management team that has a proven track record," commented Doolen, who worked for El Paso Triad for five years before starting up COPS in 1997.
