DATELINE
Winners of the Tracking Tales for Lobster Tails contest were announced at the Mailcom Show in Atlantic City, NJ. A2B sponsored the contest to find the business or organization with the most unusual tracked items.
Michael Aguirre, Logistical and Support Services Manager at California State University, won in the category of items currently being tracked. Aguirre submitted proof that he tracks bull sperm from receiving until the specimen reaches the school's biology laboratories. Aguirre uses his parcel tracking system for perishable and time sensitive deliveries. "When expensive things were lost before we got our new system, it was our department that had to foot the bill. Now we can prove not only when deliveries arrive, but where they are on the campus at a given time," Aguirre said.
UPS/PSI Regional Trackpad Coordinator, John Gevorkian, nominated the company "Y" (formerly known as Tom Morey). "Y" is the inventor of the Boogie Board and, more recently, a new product called the Swizzle. "Y" plans to track the boards' serial numbers through production by applying a bar code under the fiberglass layer. This will enable tracking of boards when they are moved or sold.
The winning entrant in each category received a lobster dinner for two, shipped directly from Plymouth Harbor, MA where A2B's corporate headquarters is located.
