PageMax product line expands to optra T and 8100
Office World News, Oct 2001
Clarity Imaging Technologies is now shipping production versions of PageMax(R) cartridges compatible with the Lexmark Optra T family of printers and the Hewlett-Packard 8100. PageMax is the only full line of Hewlett-Packard, Lexmark and Canon compatible laser cartridges that offers new cartridges with double page yields, resulting in significant savings for laser printer supplies. PageMax for the Optra T PageMax has a full line of cartridges
for the Lexmark family of laser printers. Over the last few years, PageMax cartridges for the Optra S have been hugely successful. At 5% page coverage, PageMax cartridges for the Optra S yield 38,000 pages versus Lexmark's advertised yield of 17,600.
The Optra T printer family offered some new technical challenges. Clarity had to overcome Lexmark's smart chip technology to allow PageMax cartridges to operate in Optra T printers. PageMax Optra T compatible cartridges underwent extensive beta testing at customer sites and have been in production for several months. PageMax averages over 40,000 pages versus the Lexmark Optra T, which is advertised at 25,000 pages at 5% page coverage.
PageMax for the 8100
Clarity has also introduced its Hewlett-Packard 8100 compatible cartridge. Employing patented technology, the PageMax cartridge for the HP 8100 averages 40,000 pages versus 20,000 for the HP cartridge at 5% coverage. PageMax double yield cartridges are also available for HP's older model printers as well as the 1100, 2100, 4000 and 5000.
Customer Savings
PageMax double yield cartridges provide customers overall savings of 20%-35%. The savings result from the customer using approximately onehalf the number of cartridges. The majority of these savings come from spending less on the total purchase of toner cartridges. Additional savings are realized by having to replace cartridges half as often. These costs include direct labor, lost productivity and overhead functions and average $21 per cartridge according to a study conducted by Camarro Research.
PageMax Technology
Clarity is the only company focused on developing and manufacturing double yield laser cartridges. For cartridges such as Hewlett-Packard and Canon, which are based on magnetic toner, Clarity has developed patented "high efficiency toner transfer" TM technology Bv transferring toner more efficiently and consistently, much less toner is required to produce print output with the same densities and quality as the OEM cartridges.
Non-magnetic toner based cartridges, such as Lexmark, require considerable reengineering to achieve improved page yield. Clarity has several patents and patents pending relative to design changes required to enhance page yield.
In addition to constant quality and yield testing in Clarity's own laboratories, Clarity routinely has PageMax cartridges tested by independent labs to verify page yields versus the OEM products.
PageMax Cartridges are New
PageMax cartridges are classified as "new" according to US Environmental Protection Agency guidelines. These guidelines provide for the reuse of certain non-critical components. Like most OEM's, Clarity reuses certain non-critical components. Consistent with the EPA guidelines, all PageMax cartridges are built totally from the ground up from components.
PageMax Distribution
PageMax cartridges are available from many regional dealers as well as national dealers, such as Corporate Express Imaging and Computer Graphic Supplies.
