Chicago-based CP Kelco, maker of thickeners and stabilizers, plans to increase capacity at its Skensved, Denmark, and Limeira, Brazil, facilities Expansions are scheduled for completion in mid-2003 and 2005, respectively. CP Kelco's Skensved plant produces low methoxyl amidated (LMA) specialty pectin. Upon completion, Skensved is expected to achieve a 15 percent increase in overall capacity for LMA products. While Skensved is focusing on LMA capacity expansion, the focus in Limeira is on high methoxyl (HM) pectin. When that project wraps up in 2005, the company expects to at least double HM capacity.

Decatur, III.-based Archer Daniels Midland Co. (ADM) has entered into a agreement with Valentine Enterprises Inc., Lawrenceville, Ga., to distribute ADM's NutriSoy(R) Whole Bean Powder for specific targeted accounts within the dry-mix markets. ADM is one of the world's largest processors of soybeans, corn, wheat and cocoa. Valentine manufactures more than 700 products in health and fitness supplements; protein and sports nutrition; fiber supplements; meal replacements; single-ingredient supplements; and bone and joint health.

The worldwide Gelita Group is renaming its operating units to more accurately reflect its identity and regional presence. For Gelita's North American units, Gelita USA Inc. will encompass Kind & Knox Gelatine Inc. USA and Dynagel Inc. USA. Also part of the North American unit will be Gelita Mexico S. de R.L. de C.V. Similar name changes will affect Gelita units in its Europe, South America and Asia-Pacific-Africa divisions.
