Antique appraisal seminar

Library Administrator's Digest, Dec 2002

The Kendallville (IN) Public Library will once again offer its Antique Appraisal Seminar on Saturday, October 26 from 9 a.m. to noon with Britton Knowles, a licensed appraiser and auctioneer from South Bend.

In order to have an item appraised the day of the seminar, participants need to register that request at the library. The deadline was September 28 so please contact the library to see if space still exists. Registration includes bringing a picture of the item itself (the library will take a Polaroid snapshot at $1 per photo if you do not bring a photograph). In addition, the participant will need to give a description and any background information they may have on the item to be appraised. Each item will cost $5 for Knowles to give his professional opinion about its worth.

Those with a preregistered item will need to bring the item, if possible, to the seminar. The library will tell those with registered items the approximate time Knowles will review their treasure. During the seminar, Knowles will show the item and give his comments based on the research he found about each item. Individuals with appraised items will receive one free admittance to the seminar with their paid appraisal request.

Individuals without items who would like to watch this program and listen while Knowles makes his appraisal and remarks about each submitted item may do so by purchasing a $5 ticket in advance of the program.
