Markets energize for new energy storage techniques

Advanced Battery Technology,  Jun 2001

According to a study released in May by Business Communications Co., Inc. (www.bccresearch.com), the U.S. wholesale level market for emerging and developmental energy storage technology is expected to be worth over $126 million in 2001.

The market is likely to more than double by 2005 and reach nearly $1.2 billion by 2010 as it grows at an AAGR (average annual growth rate) of 22% during the period 2000-- 2005 and subsequently at an AAGR of 30.3% from 2005 through 2010.

Electronic and capacitive energy storage products (supercapacitors, ultracapacitors, and aerocapacitors) are the largest of the three sectors, and should continue to dominate the emerging and developmental marketplace throughout the ten-year scope of this report.
