Electric vehicle for senior citizens

Advanced Battery Technology,  Jun 2001

Farm equipment manufacturer Kubota Corp. of Osaka, Japan, has marketed a four-wheel electric vehicle that is stable and aimed at the senior citizen market, reports The Nikkei Weekly.

Reaching a speed of 6km per hour, the cart can run for about five hours on one charge, and it does not require a driver's license to operate it. It automatically slows when the driver makes a turn and stops when the driver grips the handle tightly, ensuring safety. A buzzer goes off when the driver dismounts without cutting the power. The price is Y348,000.

For details, contact Kubota Corp., 1-2-47 Shikitsu-- Higashi, Naniwa-ku, Osaka, phone: 06-6648-3149.
