Keith E. Wandell, president, Automotive System Group, Battery, of Johnson Controls Inc., became president of Battery Council International (BCI) during the association's 114th Convention in Orlando, Florida.
Wandell joined Johnson Controls in 1988 as plant manager of its battery facility in Toledo, Ohio. After two years, he was selected to head the company's joint venture with Varta Batteries in Canada. During the next five years, he assumed positions of increasing responsibility, including vice president of Operations, Battery; and vice president and general manager, Automotive Systems Group, Battery. In 1997, he was elected an officer of Johnson Controls Inc. and in 1998 became the division's president. Wandell has a BBA degree from Ohio University and an MBA from the University of Dayton.

Headquartered in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Johnson Controls is the largest battery manufacturer in North America. BCI is a 77-year-old international trade association representing the world's leading manufacturers, suppliers, marketers, recyclers, and consultants in the battery industry. BCI's 115th Annual Meeting will be at the Moon Palace Resort in Cancun, Mexico, May 18-21, 2003.
