Superior Graphite of Chicago, Illinois, and Columbian Chemicals Co. of Marietta, Georgia, have formed an alliance to produce a new class of products for use in a wide variety of industries, including energy systems, carbon parts, friction materials, elastomers, and plastics.

The PUREBLACK(TM) Carbon line of products offers a blend of the technologies and economic advantages of both graphite and carbon black to provide customers with innovative solutions in a variety of demanding applications. These products bring economically attractive solutions to users in several applications requiring high levels of purity and performance. Commercial quantities of these products are available, and characteristics such as particle size, morphology and reactivity can be customized to meet a customer's unique needs.

Superior Graphite produces engineered carbon-based products and specializes in high temperature technologies, advanced sizing, blending, and coating technologies. Columbian Chemicals Co., a subsidiary of Phelps Dodge, is a global provider of high-quality carbon black additives for rubber, plastics, and liquid products.
