Oak Ridge Micro-Energy Begins Phase II

Advanced Battery Technology, Jul 2004

Oak Ridge Micro-Energy Inc. of Oak Ridge, Tennessee, has completed Phase I of its business and strategic plan and has entered Phase II, geared toward expansion. Phase II mass prototyping and entrance into highly specialized, niche markets, is to occur simultaneously with Phase III, manufacturing thin-film lithium batteries.

"With the recent capital investment received, the company can now begin to supply prototypes in significant quantities, which will lead to large-scale and long-term partnerships and revenue streams," says Oak Ridge President Mark Meriwether. "We expect to simultaneously combine Phase II and Phase III as the company progresses over the next 24 months."

The company has placed orders for two sputter deposition tools and ancillary equipment. The new tools will increase 25 times the number of batteries produced in a single run.
