HBL Nife Plans Greenfield Unit at VSEZ

HBL Nife, a battery and power systems company in Hyderabad, India, is setting up a Greenfield manufacturing unit at Visakhapatnam Special Economic Zone in Andhra Pradesh, India. The unit will manufacture nickel cadmium pocket plate and fibre plate batteries. Estimated cost of the project is Rs 13 crore.

The facility will have the capacity to manufacture 90 lakh Ah of NiCad batteries. The company is leasing 76,150 square meters of land from VSEZ.

It will be spending Rs36 lakh on developing land and Rs315 crore on a main shed, utility shed and a canteen. Site development work was to commence in August and civil work is expected to start in September. The company aims to start a trial run by March 2006 and commercial production by April 2006.
