Only Coughlin and Stef Williams, a senior at Bloomsburg Area, Pa., repeated as champions. Williams, who won the 200 last year, captured the 100 this time around in 49.61.

Newcomers to this year's championship were Lacey Boutwell and Staci Stitts. Boutwell, a freshman at Noblesville, Ind., won the 50 in 22.90, while Stitts, a junior at Carlsbad, Calif., dropped nearly three seconds off her time in the 100 breast from last year to win the event in 1:01.77.
