Swimming World and Junior Swimmer, Mar 1999

Longevity. Evanston H.S. defeated New Trier 100-83 on Jan. 15 in the 80th consecutive dual meet between the two swimming powerhouses. The rivalry, which dates back at least to 1918, is the oldest in the country. More than 1200 spectators showed up for this year's meet, including past Olympians who graduated from the two schools.

The Rich Get Richer. Patrick Fowler, Seattle (Wash.) Prep, who set a national high school record in the 100 yard breaststroke last year (53.66) and was our male High School Swimmer of the Year, will be doing his collegiate swimming at Stanford University.
