Hall of Fame inducts new honorees

America's Carrie Steinseifer and ussia's Evgeni Sadovyi highlighted the list of inductees at the 35th annual International Swimming Hall of Fame induction ceremony held in Fort Lauderdale May 7-8. Steinseifer won two gold medals at the 1984 Olympic Games, including a tie (with Nancy Hogshead) in the 100 free, the only tie in Olympic history. Sadovyi was a triple gold medalist at the Barcelona Olympics in 1992, winning the 200 and 400 free, and swimming on the Unified Team's victorious 800 free relay.

Other inductees: Adrian Moorhouse, Great Britain, winner of the 100 breast at the 1988 Olympics; Anne Ottenbrite, Canada, 200 breast Olympic champion in '84; divers Falk Hoffman (Germany) and Kelly McCormick (USA); Coach Ray Bussard (USA); Masters swimmers Kelley Lemmon (USA) and Maxine Merlino (USA); water polo player Mirko Sandic (Yugoslavia); synchro swimmer Kristen Babb-Sprague (USA); and contributors G. Harold Martin (USA) and Sebastian Salinas Abril (Peru).

OATH-Olympic Athletes Together Honourably-was formed in April with the help of a generous $1 million donation by Canada's Magna Corporation. The international organization consists of Olympic athletes and advocates. OATH is planning a meeting in New York, June 11-13, to map out its strategy.
