A Graceful Age: Reflections for the Wisdom Years. By Mark LaMont, FSC. Winona, MN: St. Mary's Press. 2000. Pp. 168. Paper. $12.95.
As people age, they face losses of spouse, friends, home, health, and independence. The topics for reflection presented here were suggested by persons in nursing homes and seniorcitizen centers, as well as having been drawn from the author's own life. Each of these large-print reflections includes a quotation from Scripture or a notable person, a reflection by the author, and a prayer. Included are such topics as: Aging, Angels, Death and Dying, Heaven, The Cross, Humility, Presence of God, Humor, Time, Truth, Miracles, Prayer, and Charity. Although intended for private prayer, these reflections could also be used as the basis of faith sharing in a prayer group.
